Applications to the Early Years Foundation Stage/Reception Class

Great Barton CE Primary Academy offers children a full or part-time place in the Early Years Foundation Stage/Reception Class.  All children are entitled to a full-time place from September should parents/carers choose this option.  A part-time place is available if parents/carers do not wish to take up the full-time place initially.  In Suffolk, children are expected to attend full-time from the beginning of the term in which they have their fifth birthday.

Parents/carers, who would like to apply for a place in our Early Years Class in September should click on the link above to find out how to apply through the local authority.

Parents/carers, will not be able to access the part-time provision, unless they have a confirmed place at the school.

Parents/carers who do not take up a part-time or full-time place will still be able to send their child to the school when they reach statutory age, as long as they have a confirmed place (i.e. the place will be held as long as it is confirmed).

During the summer term before admission, parents/carers are invited to a meeting with the Headteacher and the Early Years team in which further information about the Early Years curriculum and the school day are discussed.  Families also receive newsletters and invitations to school events.

Our new pupils are invited to three half-day sessions to give them the opportunity to become familiar with their new teachers, peers and surroundings.  They are also invited to sample a complimentary school lunch.  Early Years staff visit the nursery/pre-school setting attended by your child (where possible), as part of our transition programme prior to pupil visits.

In-year applications (Years 1 - 6) should be made directly to the school office using the ADM1 application form, which is available on-line or by clicking on the link below.
