Welcome to Robin class!
Mrs Larke is the class teacher for Robin class and Mrs Campan is the teaching assistant. Mrs Boldero, Mrs Souter, Mrs Coe and Mrs Vallance also support children in the class.
During the first term in Robin Class, we ensure that children have a gradual transition from Owl class (and the Early Years curriculum) by providing a balance of child-centred activities and challenge tasks. Gradually the children are expected to do more concentrated work, building up over the year to prepare them for Year 2. The children still have many opportunities for hands-on experiences in which they explore and discover through a thematic approach to learning (as with the rest of the school), whilst covering the National Curriculum objectives.
Our year has an overarching theme of ‘Nature and our Environment’ and our topics include: Percy the Park Keeper's weather and seasons; Nature detectives; Oscar investigates materials and Percy's garden workshop.
Over the year we also experience an exciting and educational visit from Kimmy’s Zoo and an action packed day at Jimmy’s Farm. Parents and carers are also invited into school to share learning experiences focussing on phonics, numeracy and Forest School.
For further information regarding specific subject areas, please see the Robin Class long term plan; for weekly updates follow us on twitter: @RobinClassGB.
