Collective Worship is practiced daily at Great Barton. Mrs Ratley leads collective worship for the school and works closely with the children and teachers as well as members of the local churches to deliver collective worship. A typical week is:
Monday - whole school collective worship
Tuesday - "Open the Book" or School Council worship
Wednesday - Church led worship
Thursday - Sing Praise
Friday - Greatness worship (where we celebrate the class achievements)
We use the Imaginor Roots and Fruits materials to support our Worship. We focus on a number of Christian Values across the terms. Please click on the document below to see which values we focus on. We are currently on year "A".
The CWL Team
The CWL (Collective Worship Leaders) team work with Mrs Ratley to help to plan Collective Worship for the school. They offer their ideas for how Collective Worship can be developed; help to lead worship and come up with ideas for the whole school to live out our Christian values in action.
Our team consists of the following children:
Owl Class: (not yet appointed)
Robin Class: Ursa and Raif
Fox Class: Esme and Ewan
Squirrel Class: Beth and Jackson
Badger Class: Lucy and Noah
Hare Class: Eve and Daisy
Osprey Class: Arron and Lily F
Our value this half term is justice.
Justice means more than making things ‘fair’. In order for people to live together well in a just community, it is important to have rules or laws that everybody sticks to. Imagine if there were no rules for people driving cars on the road!
As a family you may want to talk about:
• why it is important to have rules and laws
• rules or laws that you don’t think are just (or fair)
• family rules that you think are important
Please click on the document below to read some ideas for you and your family to explore on the theme of justice.
Why not try the home-school challenge?
Design a weighing machine
Before electronic weighing machines were invented, scales often had two pans that were balanced when each held an equal weight. Design and make a simple balance from recycled materials that can weigh small objects.
All the pictures/videos submitted will be displayed in our school Challenge Gallery on the school's website. Upload a photograph of your work to your Google Classroom Folder and tagging Mrs Ratley to it, or email Mrs Ratley directly using her Google email address with your photograph/video.
Winners will receive a £5 Amazon gift voucher to spend on anything of their choice. The closing date for entries is Wednesday 24th March 2021. Don't give up!
