As part of our commitment to reduce food waste we have been working closely with 'Stillgoodfood'. Together we organised the ‘Decorate you Pumpkin’ competition before half-term. The aim of the competition was to decorate a pumpkin and NOT carve it, then use the recipes provided to make pumpkin soup, muffins and curry among other things. It would be lovely to hear from anyone who has used the recipes. Here are some of the competition entries.
We did it ! We have been awarded the ECO-SCHOOLS GREEN FLAG WITH MERIT AWARD. Well done to all the Eco committee members and to the rest of the school for your support and participation in Eco projects around the school and in the wider community.
We received a letter from the ECO-SCHOOLS awarding body and here are just few things they said about our school.
"It's wonderful that you have such a large and thriving Eco-Committee and fantastic that you have held so many meetings this year. This shows your school’s excellent commitment to both the programme and the eco-cause, great work!"
"It’s wonderful to read about all the amazing projects you are and have been involved in, and we love that your Eco-Committee members are so passionate about their work."
"We’re impressed with how you’ve engaged with different projects and external organisations, both locally and nationally, such as the Great Big School Clean and the Sicon project. We love that you have linked up with a local food redistribution charity. This is a great example of the collaborative approach we will all need to adopt to combat climate change - your application made us feel really positive for the future."
Our three topics this year (2021-22) are:
How can you help wildlife in your garden? Please see some information and helpful tips below.
We had a visit from Lynda Brignall, an author who lives in Great Barton. She read her book, ‘When I Go Out At Night’ and told us lots of information about her work with hedgehogs. She works at the Suffolk Hedgehog Hospital

A huge well done goes to the Eco team for their tireless commitment and hard work, and to the rest of the school for all their support too.
We are very proud to be a "Green Flag" school. We believe that outdoor learning is important for all children. We have a responsibility to look after and respect our environment and the Eco Schools principles underpin many areas of our whole school curriculum.
