MFL Statement of Intent
The intention of our MFL curriculum at Great Barton is to develop our children’s interest in other languages and cultures, with a focus on French, whilst also learning greetings, vocabulary and information in other cultures along the way, deepening their understanding of the world in which they live and will live in future. We want them to be able to understand (at their age appropriate level) French that they hear and read, and be able to communicate orally and in written form. In doing so, we hope that the children will have skills on which to build as they move to Secondary school and be keen and equipped to develop their language studies further. We want them to be interested in other languages and appreciate similarities and differences between them.
