Maths

We follow the White Rose Maths Hub mastery long-term plan which blocks all aspects of maths into units, each containing small steps in learning. Each of our maths lessons focuses on mathematical fluency, problem solving and reasoning.

We have weekly Big Maths Beat That CLIC and SAFE challenges to allow us to revisit all the key areas of maths on a regular basis, at a level relevant to each individual child.

Homework is set, where it ties in with the unit we are covering in class, and the children are strongly encouraged to make use of TT Rockstars to help with learning the times tables. We do 60-second times tables challenges everyday and work our way up the 'Times Table Mountain' as we achieve quick mental recall of each times table, in preparation for the Year 4 Multiplication Table Check in June.

Below, you will find a copy of our long-term plan, an overview of the key 'ready-to-progress' criteria which we aim for all children to meet before they leave Year 4,  a document of maths prompt-sheets designed to help you to support your child with their maths homework and a series of knowledge organisers detailing what your child needs to know in relation to each unit of work.
